It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Amie Clark (Cessnock, New South Wales), who passed away on August 14, 2020, leaving to mourn family and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
It breaks my heart to inform everybody here that Aims passed last night (August 14th) at about 8.30pm.
She really deteriorated in the last week or so and we were forced to sedate her a couple of days ago. She was given hours then but still fought and held on for another 2 days. Which to everybody who knows her or has followed her journey, it’s no surprise.
Our daughter Miela and myself were beside her holding her hand, kissing her and telling her we love her with all our hearts right up to her last little breath.
I will do another post about her at a later date and will also put up a post of her funeral details for those attending or wanting to view the stream.

NSW Police ‘Stud Book’
John G. Imeson (Rtd Senior Sgt) passed away peacefully in Wyong Hospital this morning. In recent years, John had suffered numerous ongoing health issues which have now taken him from us.
John had a lengthy service in H.W.P. and Traffic. He was a very respected and well liked man and a great boss and friend.

William David HANNA was the third child born to David HANNA and Susan Anna SMITH. He was born on the 10th March 1884 at Woorooma Station, Moulamein NSW.
After his Boer War service in 1902, the next recorded record of his life was on 12 July 1903 when he reported the death of his brother, John Alfred Hanna at the Jerilderie Hotel NSW Australia.
As a returned soldier he was offered a career in the NSW Police Force, and was appointed as an Ordinary Constable on the 1 April 1906, (information obtained from the NSW Police Gazette dated 11 July 1906).
His service number was 8363 and he was posted to the far North Coast country towns of Murwillumbah and Mullumbimby. A few years later he was posted to Hillston, in far western NSW.
Members of the HANNA family knew him by the nickname of “Barlow”.
On the 31st March 1908 he married Jessie TAMLYN in the Mount Hope district of NSW.
William and Jessie had three children. William David Gregory was born in Condobolin during 1909. The second child born was Grace May Dorothy who was born on 16 December 1911 at Hay NSW. The third child Jessie Margaret was born at Urana NSW on the 14th June, 1913.
When John Alfred Carroll HORGAN moved from Jerilderie NSW in the late 1920’s, to take up a job the GPO in Sydney, he boarded with his uncle, William David HANNA, who was a Crown Sergeant by this time, in the NSW police force. He resided at 71 Rosebery Avenue, Rosebery NSW where it was common for relatives to arrive at his home and stay for whatever time they liked.
A family source advised that Uncle Barlow’s relatives and friends would visit on a Saturday and drink beer in the garage.
When transferred to Sydney NSW William David held postings at Darlinghurst, Redfern, Paddington, Randwick and Botany Police Stations as a Crown Sergeant.
Molly HORGAN recalls that when she was completing her nursing certificate during the 1940’s at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, she would often receive a visit from Crown Sergeant William HANNA, just to see if she was alright and making sure she had everything she needed.
Molly also knew him as Barlow and stated he was a wonderful caring man.
Crown Sergeant William HANNA was professionally acquainted with Sydney’s major underworld figures of the day. He was also a member of the Orange Lodge and Masonic Lodge.
He was sent to the Hunter Valley Region on several occasions for Bush Fire control and Law and Order at times of the infamous Coal Miners Strikes during the 1930’s.
On one occasion he was severely beaten in a brawl and finished up in Hospital. His family could not get near him because of the number of Chinese residents holding a vigil around his bed side. He had an affiliation with the Chinese population and believed they were good citizens.
William David HANNA owned three houses in Sydney; I have located five addresses that he lived at in Sydney: one a flatette above the Lynx Service Station on the corner of Gardeners Road and Tunstall Ave, Kensington, another residence at 155 Botany Road, Botany, “Akaroa” Mount Street, Randwick,
The Sands Directory of 1917 and 1918 recorded his address as Mort Street, Randwick and his final residence at 71 Rosebery Ave, Rosebery.
My sister Valerie recalls that she and our mother visited Uncle Barlow in Sydney. As children my sisters would be threatened with “uncle Barlow”when they misbehaved.
William David HANNA died aged 70 on the 10 December 1953 at his Rosebery NSW residence.
His death certificate states he was a widower, married at the age of 25 to Jessie TAMLYN at Mount Hope NSW. He died of a carcinoma of the stomach, which he suffered with for two years and was under the care of a Doctor John C. RADFORD.
He was cremated on the 11th December 1953 at the Eastern Suburbs Crematorium. The undertaker was T. Moncrief, Reverend J.A Ross, Church of England Minister conducted the service and C. Higgins was a witness to the cremation.
His ashes were taken to Urana NSW and buried with his wife Jessie TAMLYN. His death certificate gives his daughter Jessie HANNA as the informant of his death and also gave 71 Rosebery Avenue, Rosebery as her address.

Trooper William David HANNA – 22 – 3rd NSW Imperial Bushmen- Boer War 1902
In 1902 William David HANNA then aged 18 enlisted in the Colonial Army to fight against the Boers in South Africa.
William HANNA like so many other young men lied about his age stating he was 20 years old to get into the colonial army. He gave his occupation as “station hand” and was a Trooper in the 3 NSW Imperial Bushmen with the service number of 22.
This contingent of soldiers, arrived in South Africa and when peace was declared, immediately returned to Australia. He was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal, with clasps serving at Belmont, Transvaal, Rhodesia and South Africa, 1902.
Records of The 3rd New South Wales Imperial Bushmen gave the following information:”
In January 1902 a new squadron for the Regiment was formed in Cape Town from Australians already in the country, as was another squadron in February. This brought the strength of the regiment to 500.
About 1,000 men in total are thought to have served in the unit, although it had no more than 600 at any time.
During May 1902 some of the men whose time had expired returned to Australia in the transport Ansonia but many more, and all the officers, volunteered for further service.
200 Victorian Riverina Bushmen, raised by J. S. HORSFALL, reinforced those who stayed. (I believe that his future brother-in-law, John Joseph HORGAN were part of this 200 being from the Riverina Area).
William’s older brother John Alfred HANNA was also serving in South Africa at the time with the 3rd Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse (NSW)
The regiment spent the remainder of its time serving with William’s column in west Transvaal, until peace was declared in June 1902.
On 12 July 1902 the regiment sailed from Durban, Natal, for Australia, on board the transport Drayton Grange arriving in Sydney on 11 August”

A massive search-and-rescue operation has been launched after a Saudi Arabian student went missing during a late-night swim at City Beach in Wollongong.The University of Wollongong student was on a night out with friends to celebrate his 25th birthday when he and two others went for a swim at 2am today.Wollongong Police Inspector Mark Lavers said the friends entered the surf just south of the City Beach Function Centre and became caught in a rip.
March: Liberian refugee missing off City Beach Two managed to return to shore, however the 25-year-old was dragged south by the current. “The missing person was hit by a couple of heavy waves,” Insp Lavers said. His friends last saw him 30m offshore, opposite the WIN Entertainment Centre. Last month a 19-year-old Liberian refugee, Patrick Koffa, vanished at the same beach while swimming with friends at night. He was caught in a rip after entering the water about 9pm on March 8. His body was retrieved from the water a week later about 300m from where he was last seen. Today’s search resumed at 7am, although the continued rough conditions have complicated the search and delayed the arrival of the PolAir helicopter. Insp Lavers said a police motorbike would be brought in to scour the beaches while PolAir and the Water Police would search the ocean. “We are hoping the weather will clear because visibility is a bit ordinary because of the swell,” Insp Lavers said. The 25-year-old has been in Australia for six months and lives at the University of Wollongong’s International House. A group of about eight friends were keeping a vigil at the beach this morning.
A POLICEWOMAN was killed and her fiancé and colleague seriously hurt after a head-on collision yesterday – just 24 hours after the couple were engaged.
Wollongong Constable Elise Krejci and her partner Senior Constable Brett Wright were returning from a week-long family holiday with Officer Wright’s three children when the crash occurred at Cataract, south west of Sydney.
Colleagues of the couple were the first emergency workers at the scene after their car slammed into another vehicle in heavy rain about 1.30pm yesterday.
Constable Krejci, 31, died at the roadside, while Senior Constable Wright was released and airlifted to Wollongong Hospital in a serious condition with spinal injuries.
The three children – aged 7, 10 and 13 – escaped with minor injuries.
Grieving colleagues said today the couple had been engaged only two days ago and were due to return to work this morning.
Many of the couple’s workmates were unaware they were engaged until after the accident.
The death of the popular young officer has rocked the Wollongong command, where Constable Krejci’s sister, Anna, also works.
Inspector Mark Lavers said the couple had been on a week-long family holiday and were returning home when the crash occurred.
“They were engaged two days ago,” Insp. Lavers said.
“They got the ring in the safe (here at the police station).
“We will have to give it back to her sister today, I suppose, or her father.”
Insp. Lavers said colleagues were shattered by the death.
“She (Elise) is a lovely girl. She has been with us for three years since she was on probation,” he said.
“Her sister also works here.
“A lot of people had worked with her and a lot of people are upset.”
Insp. Lavers said the couple’s Holden Commodore hit a patch of water on the road and aqua-planed before slamming into the side of on oncoming Ford Fiesta on Picton Rd.
The male driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old Leumeah man, suffered hip, leg and facial injuries and was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious, but stable condition.
His female passenger was taken to St George Hospital in serious condition with multiple injuries. Insp. Lavers said highway patrol colleagues of the two officers were the first at the scene.
He praised the professionalism of officers, who immediately realised their colleagues were involved.
A police Chaplin and psychologist were counselling officers.
Police from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and inquiries into the cause of the collision were continuing.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to police to contact Wollongong Police on 4226 7899 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Police are searching for a 10-year-old Bellambi girl who went missing on Saturday from a house in Wollongong. Tia Marie Hammond was last seen playing with her 12-year-old brother in the front garden of a family friend’s house on Corrimal St.At about 8.30am, Tia’s mother looked out the window to check on the children but was told by her son that Tia had ridden off on her pushbike. The mother hoped Tia would return home but after she failed to do so yesterday, she contacted police, said Wollongong police duty officer Inspector Mark Lavers.
Insp Lavers said two young girls said they saw Tia and another woman getting into a taxi on her street – Waley Ave, Bellambi – between 7pm and 8.30pm on Saturday, but he said this sighting was unconfirmed.
“At this stage we are reviewing CCTV footage from the (Crown St) mall,” Insp Lavers said.
“It could have been that she has been caught on CCTV, and we will also check her usual hang-outs, particularly the (Wollongong) youth centre.
“Tia is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 150cm tall with a solid build and wavy shoulder-length brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a blue adidas jacket with three white stripes down the front, black Nike shorts and black and white slip-on shoes.
Police are concerned for her welfare and urge anyone who has any information on Tia’s whereabouts to contact Wollongong police on 4226 7899 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
A 20-year-old man is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court today charged with a home invasion at Mangerton.
Chief Inspector Mark Lavers from Wollongong police says two men entered a house in Woodlawn Avenue at 5:00pm AEST yesterday armed with a baseball bat and a machete.
“They have entered the premises and demanded money. When no money was forthcoming, the males have left the premises with the victim’s mobile phone,” he said.
“A description of the white van used by the offenders was circulated by police radio. A short time later the pair was stopped by Lake Illawarra police in the vicinity of Primbee bypass.”
They were arrested and charged with the home invasion.
The 20-year-old man from Warilla was refused bail, while a 50-year-old man also from Warilla has been given conditional bail to appear in Court on October 7.
A serial child rapist who went on the run yesterday just hours after being released from jail has been nabbed near a Wollongong beach, south of Sydney, by an off-duty policeman.
Raymond Barry Cornwall breached his strict bail conditions yesterday evening, just half an hour after parole officers left him at his approved accommodation.
The 52-year-old was released from Sydney’s Long Bay jail on appeal after serving a 14-year sentence for four sexual attacks on females aged between 13 and 23, who he held at knifepoint.
He was due to undergo a program for sex offenders in jail for eight months, but the Court of Appeal overturned that Supreme Court ruling yesterday.
An off-duty officer recognised Cornwall this morning while jogging at Stanwell Park Beach, in north Wollongong, and approached him.
He called police, who arrested the sex offender about 8:00am (AEDT).
Under his 26 release conditions, Cornwall had to be supervised by parole officers, inform them of his movements, be at his address between 9:00pm and 6:00am (AEDT), and wear an electronic monitor on his ankle.
But the anklet was not fitted with GPS monitoring, so authorities were unable to find him before he removed it.
He was also ordered to accept psychiatric treatment, including anti-libidinal medication, and avoid public places regularly frequented by children.
Inspector Mark Lavers says Cornwall poses a potential risk to the public due to his behaviour.
“He’d removed his anklet so he’s breached his home detention order so he was therefore wanted by us,” he said.
“He’ll be dealt with by probation and parole, and by investigating detectives from Parramatta”.
Cornwall had been on a series of interim detention orders since his sentence expired, while the New South Wales Government applied to have him kept in jail for another five years.
In allowing his appeal yesterday, the court said the judge failed to make a clear finding that a lighter, five-year supervision order would not provide adequate protection.
The court noted Cornwall had undergone sex offender courses in jail.
But the move was condemned by the New South Wales Opposition, which said the Government had not developed the appropriate criteria for courts to decide if sex offenders deserve extended detention periods.
Cornwall is due to face Wollongong Local Court later today.
NSW Police Commissioner Scipione has congratulated the off-duty officer, whose efforts he says were “outstanding”.
“It just shows that police never are really off-duty,” he said.
Police have recovered seven rare monkeys stolen from a wildlife park south of Sydney on the weekend, but they are still looking for an eighth.
The four cotton top tamarins and four pygmy marmosets were stolen late on Saturday night from the park at Helensburgh.
Chief Inspector Mark Lavers says officers found three tamarins in a cage dumped in parkland in Auburn after seizing a car they believed was used in the theft.
“The monkeys were recovered in a fairly cold and distressed condition,” he said.
“They were returned to Symbio who then took them to the vet and a further four monkeys were located by detectives last night, again in the Auburn area.”
The Park’s owner, John Radnidge says the marmosets could have died had police not acted quickly.
“These animals come from a tropical rainforest climate and they need their heat and specialised diets,” he said.
“They were left in a paddock, they were freezing cold, the detectives were so concerned about their well being that they returned them to us at our Helensburgh premises under police escort.”
The four marmosets had been left at a veterinary clinic.
Police have yet to charge anyone over the theft and have asked for public help to find the remaining tamarin.

The Police Association is extremely saddened at the passing of Senior Constable Shannon Hollibone registered number #45791.
Shannon was attached to the Western Region, working from Coonabarrabran.
After a long battle with cancer Shannon passed away overnight at only 46 years of age, after 11 years of dedicated service. Our thoughts are with Shannon’s partner Nicole, his wider family, friends and his brothers and sisters in blue.
While in care this week Shannon was presented with recognition of his service by both PANSW President Tony King and Commissioner of Police Mick Fuller.

Murray was a man of very high personal and professional standards. He spent his life protecting others, putting the lives and well-being of others before his own. He had a sharp mind and a very dry wit. I will always remember sitting in his TV room filling in my notes while he was watching British Train Journeys. Murray made a statement about the presenter, Saying, ” That block can fight.” I looked at the TV and said, “How do you know that?” Murray said, says, yeah , he’s a really good fighter for sure!” Again l looked at the TV presented and notice the very bright hot pink trousers and fluro green shirt with red shinning shoes and l burst out laughing! I realised he was saying that the presenter had to be a great fighter to wear those clothes and survive. Such was the diversity of Murrays personality. I could honestly say that Murray always emitted a sense of safety and comfort whenever you were around him. It was difficult for him to accept the support as he was such an independent and strong person but eventually forged strong and lasting friendships in the least likely places. I feel blessed to have known him and grateful for the memories. RIP Murray, until we meet again.

Muzza, there are no words that can describe the sadness all your friends and family feel. It would be hard pressed to find anyone who didn’t love and respect you mate, even the many crooks you ushered into the dock! You took me under your wing and were like a big brother when Bondi & Waverley Detectives joined as one, now known as Eastern Suburbs. Many a young Police Officer would later learn from your distinct style. I’ll always remember the numerous Sunday sessions at watering holes around the Eastern Suburbs and the occasional motor bike ride to various locations. A specific memory comes to mind when a few of us travelled by the Indian Pacific train from Sydney to Broken Hill (19 hrs) to visit your new digs after you transferred there. Train cattle class wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Nevertheless, you showed us around and we had a ball..! As fate would later have it, we found ourselves living beside one another in Kirra (QLD) opposite the beach for a period of time before you headed up to the Northern Territory for work. You were taken to young. I am sorry that I am unable to attend your funeral service in person. I will be thinking of you, your family and the many memories whilst viewing on line. Murray was a great mate we went to South Grafton high school and shared a house in coogee Sydney in the Early 80s he was always fun .We would catch up every few years and fill in the gaps of our lives and what we were all up too in our adult life. He will be missed , he had the most amazing journeys for such a short life ❤❤❤ loved ya Muzz Essy XXX

Dubbo’s Wesley Bush knew from a young age that he wanted to be a police officer. It’s a dream he’s glad to have followed, as he prepares to start working as a probationary constable.
The 23-year-old policing student will be one of the speakers at the Dubbo Police Career Day on Sunday 21 April.The day is a joint initiative of the NSW Police and Charles Sturt University (CSU), inviting visitors to find out more about policing as a career and the recruit education program, the Diploma of Policing Practice (DPP).
The Police Career Day runs from 10am to 2pm, with a formal information session commencing at 10am. Speakers include current students such as Mr Bush, recent graduates, university and police staff. They will discuss career options within the police service, health and lifestyle issues and the education program.
Mr Bush said he had found studying at the Police College in Goulburn an enjoyable experience.
“There is a lot of support while you are on campus, all the staff are very helpful,” he said.
Mr Bush will be returning to regional NSW in May, to complete the DPP while he is employed as a probationary constable in Orange.
The Diploma of Policing Practice is offered in a number of different modes, including distance education, making it accessible to a broad range of prospective students.
DPP students may be eligible to be employed by the NSW Police as probationary constables after two 14-week sessions of study, then they complete their training over a further 12 months.
Applications for the Diploma will also be accepted on the day. Anyone wishing to apply should bring the original, plus copies of documents, such as birth certificates, results of prior study and references.
The Police Career Day is being held at the Police and Community Youth Club, corner of Darling and Erskine Streets, Dubbo.

CAUGHT: Senior Constable Wes Bush with one of the many illegal mobile radar detectors seized by police in the last few weeks.
TWELVE Orange drivers have had illegally installed mobile radar detectors seized by police in the last few weeks.
The drivers have been hit with heavy fines of $1300 each and lost nine points from their licence.
Orange police have specially installed devices in each vehicle which emit a loud signal when a vehicle is approaching with an illegally installed detector.
Police say the illegal devices have been imported by either being purchased over the internet or obtained overseas and brought in to the country in luggage.
Senior Constable Wes Bush said when drivers were caught they realised they would have to pay a heavy fine.
“But they get a real shock when they find out they lose nine points off their licence,” he said. “They only need to have had one speeding fine added to that and their licence is gone.”
Police say the standard navigation GPS systems which can be purchased in retail outlets do not pose a problem as they only have a facility for detecting fixed cameras.
The illegal devices which have been confiscated in the last few weeks are small enough to fit in the palm of the hand and plug into a cigarette lighter.
Snr Const Bush said many drivers were also unaware that it is illegal to be caught buying or storing a detector in a vehicle.
ORANGE residents were far worse in 2013 when it came to speeding in school zones, with about 281 drivers booked in the Orange local government area – an 84 per cent increase from 2012 when 153 drivers were fined.
The most common offenders when it comes to speeding in school zones, are parents whose children go to the school Leading Senior Constable Wes Bush said.
The increase in fines was not necessarily because Orange drivers were becoming more complacent, Senior Constable Bush said, rather Orange highway patrol had been “actively” targeting school zones.
As 40 km/h school zones kick into force from Tuesday, Senior Constable Bush urged people to slow down and pay attention to school zone signage.
“There’s plenty of signs around, flashing lights, road markings,” he said.
“They’re prominent and it is easy to tell so there’s no excuse.”
He said people should be reminded one extra demerit point applied to any infringement notice given to a driver in a school zone.
Failure to adhere to school zone speed limits could be costly for motorists, with fines up to $425 for exceeding the zone by under 10 km/h and a loss of two demerit points.
Exceeding the speed limit over 10 kmh could result in a loss of four demerit points and a $531 fine.
The 40 km/h school zones operate from 8am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 4pm.
Orange and Cabonne Road Safety Officer Andrea Hamilton-Vaughan said the 40 km/h school zone speed limit must be observed even if school children can’t be seen.
“A safe return to school can be achieved if everyone plays a role to protect school children,” Andrea Hamilton-Vaughan said.
Orange drivers gave the government about $533,000 worth of fines for speeding in a school zone in the last financial year.

Canobolas Local Area Command awards acknowledge help from Peter and the police

THE contributions and achievements of the region’s police officers were celebrated at yesterday’s Canobolas Local Area Command (CLAC) awards ceremony, but it wasn’t just the officers being recognised.
Emily Watson, a year 12 student at Orange High School, was on hand at the Orange Agriculture Institute to accept the CLAC certificate of appreciation on behalf of her father Peter Watson, who provided valuable assistance to ambulance officers at an incident on Huntley Road last year.
Mr Watson stopped on the side of the road to assist ambulance officers subdue an unruly patient, enabling them to call for further assistance and helping to resolve a volatile situation in the process.
Miss Watson, who was also present at the incident, said she was proud to be accepting such an award on her father’s behalf.
“I am proud, he couldn’t be here today and I saw what happened. He told me to stay in the car, but I didn’t,” she laughed.
“The ambulance officers were wrestling with a patient, about 100 metres away from their van. One of the ambulance officers was hit by the patient, and they couldn’t leave him to call for assistance.
“Dad helped them so they could call for assistance. It was a pretty scary situation, a lot of people wouldn’t have stopped, so I’m very proud of him for doing that.”
Officers from around the region received medals for long service, clasps, certificates of merit and commendations during the ceremony, and CLAC Superintendent Shane Cribb was on hand for the presentation.
“These awards are very important,” he said. “Our police work 24 hours a day putting their lives at risk, and it’s very important we recognise their achievements and their years of service.
“It’s a very demanding profession, and 10 years in one profession is a long time in this kind of occupation. We saw here, there was people getting recognised for 25 and 30 years’ service.
“It’s tough to work in one profession for 30 years at all, let alone one so demanding. We’re incredibly grateful for their efforts, and it’s important for the community to see the kind of effort they go to as well.
“The public often doesn’t see what happens when the police are out protecting them, looking after them and making sure their safe.
“I’m incredibly proud to be a part of it, it’s fantastic.”

A driver and two passengers fled the scene of a car crash in Glenroi on Saturday afternoon, police said on Sunday.
Central West Police District acting inspector Wes Bush said the three people were in a Holden Commodore which hit a road hump at speed causing a front tyre to blow.
Acting Inspector Bush said the driver lost control of the car and it crashed into a Holden Commodore Ute at the intersection of Adina Crescent and Garema Road.
“The driver fled the scene. There were two other passengers in the car [who also left the scene],” he said.
He said the driver of the other car was not injured in the crash.
Acting Inspector Bush said the incident occurred at 3.30pm on Saturday.
He said the car had not been reported as stolen.
Police and an Orange Fire and Rescue crew attended the scene of the crash.
Acting Inspector Bush said police enquiries were continuing on Sunday to locate the driver.
