Witness ‘ saw man with his intestines hanging out ‘
SYDNEY: A neighbour who heard a racket outside her house looked out the window to see a man with his intestines hanging out, Glebe Local Court heard yesterday.
Nicky Marinos said the man and two other men, who had a shovel and a hammer, were fighting, and a woman appeared to be trying to separate them.
She was testifying at the committal hearing of Huu Quynh Nguyen, 36, his wife Nga Thi Nguyen, 25, and Hai Thi Nguyen, 34, charged with murdering Duc Minh Le on December 15, at Marrickville, in Sydney’s west.
Magistrate Derrick Hand was told the 34-year-old woman was the victim’s sister-in-law.
Ms Marinos said the man, with his intestines hanging out was standing and fighting, ” waving his arms about “.
Constable Natalie Agnew said she arrived at the Marrickville house about 11.15am, when she saw the victim lying on his back on the driveway, bleeding profusely from his stomach.
The male defendant was charged on December 15, but the women were not charged until December 30.
Constable Agnew said that, when Nga Thi Nguyen was told of the charge, she appeared confused and agitated and did not seem to understand why
she was arrested, saying, ” but I did not do anything “.
Police officers told the court they found a meat cleaver, a large garden hoe, a silver knife and a silver metal bar near the scene.
Sergeant Peter Lander said Hai Thi Nguyen told him that, prior to the victim’s death, she had reported other incidents to police.
However, he could find no record of the alleged incidents, he said.
He agreed she had told him the deceased was a violent man.
The committal hearing, against the women, who are on bail and the man, who is in custody, will continue today.
Nothing further, than what is recorded above, is known about this person at the time of publication and further information and photos would be appreciated.

Body in park — no identity
Police have appealed to Holroyd residents for any information that may lead to the identification of a man’s body found in Fairfield Park last week.
The body was found by police and is believed to have been in the park for between three to four weeks.
Police said the man may have come from the Holroyd area and may have been known to district residents.
Officer-in-charge of detectives at Fairfield, Detective Sergeant J. Loomes said police were unable to identify the man. ‘The body was in an advanced state of decomposition and therefore impossible to identify.
‘ The man was about five feet seven inches tall, weighed nine or ten stone and had a very good set of teeth. He was wearing multi coloured check shirt, grey trousers, green socks and brown shoes. ‘ He was either round shouldered or had a slight hump on his back. ‘ We have no idea of his age, but we are certain there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. ‘ Any persons with information concerning the dead man are asked to contact Det. Sgt. Loomes or Det. W. Knight, at Fairfield police station.

Dangerous driving; £20 fine
The driver of a news paper delivery truck was fined £20 for dangerous driving, and another £5 for having inefficient brakes, when he was convicted of these charges in Gosford Court.
He was Gregory George Creamer, of Belmont, who drove a ‘Daily Mirror‘ delivery truck.
An offence of speeding was found proven, but Creamer was discharged. The plea in all cases was not guilty.
Constable James Edward Loomes ( 21 Division ) told the court he saw a truck being driven around a bend in the Pacific Highway, Lisarow, at speed and on the wrong side of the road. The constable, riding a police motor cycle outfit, had to swing the bike between two white guide posts to avoid a serious accident.
WRONG SIDE
The truck continued on the wrong side of the road, and missed the cycle by only two feet, said the constable. He had chased it, and had been unable to catch it for four miles, both vehicles travelling at a speed of 50 mph through Ourimbah.
Constable Edward Simmons, ( 21 Division ) gave similar evidence.
He said he had tried out the truck’s hydraulic brakes, and had to push the pedal to the floor several times before they would work.
Const. Cecil Cutler ( 21 Division ) said he saw the truck speeding through Ourimbah at an estimated speed of 45 mph.
DRIVER’S EVIDENCE
Creamer said he was travelling at about 35 mph with ‘Daily Mirror’ newspapers when, as he started to cut the corner, he saw the motor cycle from 100 to 150ft ahead. He had put his foot on the accelerator and pulled over to his left, so he came on to the correct side of the road.
The motor cycle had plenty of room to stay on the bitumin, said Creamer.
He had not known he was being followed until he saw police on a motor cycle, in his rear vision mirror.
He had then stopped.
The police had said to him, ” you —- , you nearly killed us.”
His brakes had been in good order, said Creamer. He had said in a statement to the ‘Daily Mirror’ office that Const. Loomes had punched him in the stomach.
VERY ANGRY
Const. Loomes had been very angry, and might not have been able to avoid punching him, however. The constable had no justification for being angry.
Oswald William Dewes, of Valentine, said he checked the truck’s brakes two days before the incident, and the day after. The brakes had been in good working order, but Dewes had heard of hydraulic brakes failing, and being effective the next day.
Mr. C. W. English, SM, said Creamer, driving on the wrong side of the road, caused the motor-cycle to deviate off the bitumin.
Creamer’s evidence had been very inconsistent, said the magistrate. ( Sgt. W. H. Taylor for the prosecution, and Mr. A. D. Hickey for Creamer. )

Police gear up for nostalgic chaos that was Beatlemania
SYDNEY: Scenes reminiscent of Beatlemania are expected tomorrow when rock superstar Paul McCartney makes his first in-store record appearance since the days of the Beatles.
Thousands of McCartney’s fans are expected to turn out to try to get a glimpse of – or meet – the former Beatle when he appears for 30 minutes at Brashs’ city store to sign copies of his latest album, Off The Ground.
EMI Music spokesman Tom Enright said police had been enlisted to assist with crowd control.
” We’ll have masses and masses of security guards to make sure that people file in and out of the store correctly, ” Mr Enright said.
” And of course, the store will be barricaded. ”
The control technician of the City of Sydney police, Inspector Paul Moseley, would not reveal how many police would be in attendance.
” There will be police on hand to assist security guards with the maintenance of order in the store, ” he said.
Two prison escapers had been caught in Goulburn yesterday, after police received a tip that they had boarded a train to Goulburn from Sydney, Constable Paul Moseley, of Goulburn CID said yesterday.
The escapers had been serving six-month sentences at Silverwater Jail, near Parramatta.
One, Mr Anthony Coleman, 20, walked out of the jail early on Monday, and the other, Mr Gary Lee, failed to report back to the centre after being allowed weekend leave last Friday.
Three other prisoners who have escaped since last Friday are still at large.
Mr Raymond Wright, 24, serving 18 years for armed hold-up, cut bars in his cell and climbed the security wall at Goulburn Jail on Tuesday, and escaped.
Mr Barry Millane, 39, serving a life sentence for murder, escaped on Friday night while attending a basketball game at the Sydney Boys’ High School.
Earlier on Friday a young prisoner absconded during his regular cooking class at East Sydney Technical College at Darlinghurst.
SYDNEY. Sunday. Police are investigating the shooting of 34 merino rams, valued at more than $4,500, on a Goulburn property.
Detective P. Moseley, of Goulburn, said some of the sheep had been killed and others had been crippled and had dragged themselves about until they died.

Sending all my love to all the family. The memories we shared will never be forgotten. Will never forget the party at the West’s seeing him dressed up as a bikie with Leonie and how much he loved that Harley. I’ll always remember his gentleness and compassion. He was a very special and influential man. Thoughts are with you all and all the grandchildren.

Knew Richard ( Dickie ) from the time he joined the Police Cadets in 1962. Great mates during those wonderful days. We rowed in the re formed Police rowing team together with the likes of Glen Deholm and Bob Worland.
Dick and I went to Adelaide together in early 1966 on a camping trip visiting a number of ‘old’ former cadets along the way at various Police Stations in regional NSW. Lost contact unfortunately when I went to the bush that same year.
RIP mate and condolences to all the Doust family.

What a beautiful service for Richard. So pleased we could be part of it from the rolling hills of Dorrigo where he was born.
Richard’s Mum Glad Lawrence & my mother Ida Pullen, from Sydney went to Dorrigo in 1937 and met these two Dorrigo Dairy farmers. Glad married Albert Doust a 2nd cousin of my mothers. From that time our families have been close & would catch up at family gatherings over the years. It was great growing up with Richard, Margaret & Neroli in Dorrigo and more recently catching up with them at Nelson Bay at a fabulous dinner party with Geoff & Judy Washington in February. Our thoughts are with you all. A wonderful Celebration of Richard ‘s life.

June 1973: Former Liverpool Police Officer – Senior Constable Darryl R. Blanch ( # 10649 ) and Probationary Constable S. C. Bird ( # 15174 ) pursued three men travelling in a stolen motor vehicle at Lansdowne.
Shots were exchanged during the subsequent high speed chase, one of which penetrated the windscreen of the Police vehicle only inches away from the head of Senior Constable Blanch.
After abandoning the stolen vehicle at Chullora, the offenders were arrested later by other members of the Police Force.

I had been in the Cadets for a year when I first met Darryl in 1961. We were both 16 yr old cadets at VKG.
Darryl’s family lived on a dairy farm at Millers Forrest near East Maitland and I used to travel up there with him every couple of weekends. He drove a Datsun 180B and I can still remember the number being DRB-018.
Darryl married Merv Taylor’s (President of the Police Assoc in those days) daughter and they lived near Bankstown aerodrome.
We went our own ways and I lost contact with him. I can’t get to your funeral Darryl but will livestream it. RIP Darryl.
Darryl was one of those honest hard working police I have ever worked with pity he doesn’t get some type of police funeral with a couple of current police at his funeral.
I first came across him when he was in the coopers then use to compete with him driving down Woodville road when he was at Merrylands STP.
I spent many years on accident squad 4 working with him and did many records of interviews.
He would ring me early in the morning on a call out and then turn up with siren and blue light at the front door.
We started the AIS at Daceyville and when I rejoined I walked into a police station on my first day and here is Darryl at the front counter with a welcome sadly missed.
Darryl BLANCH was the first shift supervisor I met when I started at Auburn Police Station in 1990 two years prior to his retirement an absolute true gentleman and fantastic supervisor with a wealth of knowledge from his years in the job and Accident Investigation.
Darryl it was a pleasure to have met and served with you I still have fond memories mate.
May you RIP my friend.
Sgt. Darryl Blanch of the Accident Investigation Squad uses a gauge to measure the depth of tread on the tyre of a crashed car. Police established an elite investigation team in a new bid to cut the State’s road toll. The new squad will investigate serious road accidents in the meticulous way homicide detectives investigate murders. Part of the squad’s method of operation is to completely seal off accident scenes so that vehicles involved are not removed before vital evidence is gathered. May 27, 1982.
