As per Alan’s wishes, a private family service & cremation was held at the Coffs Harbour Crematorium, Karangi, NSW.
Hi All
please see below from Alan Millward’s wife –
Hello everyone, this is Al’s wife, Jan.
Due to very last minute unforeseen circumstances, Monday’s Memorial Service will no longer be held at the racecourse.
In lieu of this our family will be down at Diggers Beach, from 2pm Monday afternoon.
It’s a pretty special spot for us as that’s where Alan and I renewed our wedding vows for our 20th wedding anniversary…which was an unbelievable 18 years ago now. My God, time goes by so fast!
You’re all welcome to join us. Bring along a chair and a choccy milk or lemon squash, or whatever your choice of poison is…I’ll have my cup of tea! If you want something to nibble on, you’ll have to bring that as well I’m sorry to say, as I really don’t think letting me in the kitchen is a good thing right now…I’d probably get distracted and burn the place down. We’ll sit around and share a few stories and celebrate Al’s life and love.
To all those who have contributed to the Go Fund Me thingy that Charlene created for Alan’s Memorial, we will contact you personally over the next few days. We do not want anyone to feel we have misled you and will return your donations if that is what you would like.
To each and every person here, thank you from the bottom of hearts, we are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support you have all offered. We will all miss Alan in our own ways.

Condolences to Harrison & Connor, together with family, friends and staff from Campbelltown Police Station.
Carolyn was exposed to, and participated in, police investigations into paedophiles, while she was the mother of young children.
This really affected her.
Part of her duties were to visit goals to listen in to phone calls made by inmates.
Prior to Carolyn’s death we tried so desperately to help her.
She was so fearful of being sectioned and admitted to the mental health unit.
More so than most people would be because she was involved in arrests where the offender was in such a unit and terrified of being placed in a unit alongside some of the people she was involved with in her work.
She should never have been exposed to some of the images of crime victims when she was not a serving police officer even though she worked very successfully alongside them.

A quote I have found in relation to Monty: “At the end of 1998, Sergeant MONTEFIORE, the Intell Sergeant at Cabramatta retired. This man left a huge void, in what was, one of the great Intell Offices in the NSW Police Service, with National and International contacts. It was a show piece of Crime Intelligence. Information required by Police was instantly available as was the names, addresses, photo’s associates etc of every known gang member in the area, particularly the highly dangerous and ruthless 5T. The Intell office was a remarkable area”

Steve was diagnosed with a lung disease, years earlier, and was on the transplant list, although he deteriorated prior to a suitable lung being found.
Steve was a good hearted and very funny bastard when I worked with him at Fairfield Police Station.
In his early days, at Fairfield, we were on Night Shift driving around the CBD when we were given the details of a vehicle which had recently been stolen in the area.
We were in a Holden sedan with a single roof bar which only had a blue revolving light in the centre and the old pull / push button ‘Were’ siren ( manually pulling and pushing the toggle switch produced the siren sound as the mechanic component spun around ).
A short time later we driving towards the Horsley Dve when we spotted the stolen vehicle turn in front of us with ‘4 heads on board’.
In those days we only had 4 working police radio channels and all Warrant and Vehicle enquiries were made on the ‘back channel’. Steve went to the ‘back channel’ and did a transport check ( just to confirm we had the correct vehicle – which we did ).
He sat there dumb founded ( this was his first stolen car ). I told him that he had better go back to the ‘working’ channel and tell VKG – which he did.
I wasn’t in a hurry to stop the stolen vehicle and it wasn’t being driven in an unusual manner. We followed it out to Smithfield whilst awaiting other Police vehicles to come to the area.
It was now time to make the Stop. The stolen vehicle casually approached a Stop sign and complied with it. I then drove up alongside the drivers door to indicate to the driver to pull over. At this time, Steve leant out of the passenger door of the Police car, with his small rubber baton in hand and attempted to hit the driver as he commenced to drive off. One of the funniest bloody things I have ever seen.
We pursued the stolen vehicle down into the Merrylands patrol where the offenders abandoned the vehicle alongside of the old Wool Shed and decamped on foot.
The offenders were run to ground ( we were hell of a lot fitter back in those days ), arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station where they were charged.

Chooky, my love, you were bigger than life itself, leaving your mark on every single person you met. I will do my best to honour your legacy, to focus on the mission in front of me, to stand strong in my truth and power and to put my own troubles aside to help others, especially when I cannot help myself.
You will be so deeply and dearly missed by so many my love, but you would want us to celebrate your incredible life and all of the good times that we were fortunate enough to share. I am at least comforted knowing that you are reunited with your beautiful Mum.
Saying goodbye to a love like ours is the hardest thing I think I’ll ever have to do. I will always love you, to the moon and back. Xo
