VALE
This morning at 9.15am EDST, Monday the 18 January 2021. The world became a sadder place and contains a great void in the hearts of many.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to inform all of the passing of:-
Raymond C. ROBINSON
“Robbo”
19/08/1953 – 18/01/2021
Registered No: 16203
Sergeant Retired, New South Wales Police Force
Class No: 138 14/01/1974 – 25/02/1974 Attested Pro/Constable
25/02/1975 Confirmed to Constable
25/02/1979 Promoted to Constable 1st Class
25/02/1983 Promoted to Senior Constable
Promoted to Sergeant 1989
Section 66 Inspector
What can I say Robbo was a close friend to myself and many others and a brother of the Thin Blue Line. He will be sadly missed by one and all even those that did not have the honour of meeting him in person. He was a larger than life character and a mentor to many in Law Enforcement and the Motorcycling world.
Robbo has ridden on ahead to check the roads and rides for those of us that will eventually join him.
R.I.P Brother, Til Valhalla
Funeral arrangements will be posted once they come to hand. Please keep Fay, Ashley and Robbo’s extended family in your thoughts and prayers at this of saddest time.

John SOLVYNS. 15 August 2017: Classic Pursuit Vehicle FB Group· John SOLVYNS sent this interesting submission through: That's me at the door. This particular VC Commodore did the rounds of a few places in NSW for trial purposes in, I think, 1983 or 84. It was supplied by GMH with a Garrett turbocharger fitted. I believe it was done in order to try and crack the HWP pursuit car market which was dominated by Ford. Apart from that I don't know too much of the technical info but there are people out there who could help. It worked very well as an unmarked car as there was an element of surprise. It didn't end well, the turbo blew and the car was last seen leaving Tamworth on the back of a truck never to be heard of or seen again. You will notice from this picture, the car had a black front spoiler and bonnet vents.

I first met John when he joined and was stationed at Eastwood GD’s. I had the opportunity to take him out in a GTR Torana for the shift as I was on Eastwood STP. John told me that is when he got the urge to join the HWP.
Great man! Rest In Peace John.  Thank you for your service.

From Dave MORRIS:

With regret I can let all his mates know, that Bob Allgood slipped away on Saturday night (28/11) at home, surrounded by family after a long battle with the rotten cancer.

His wife, Wendy just rang to let me know. There has been a private family celebration of Bobs’ life, and at his request there will be no other service.

Bob is remembered, by some, for his VW Beetle ( that he owned ) with DOG number plates.

Sad news to hear of Swoopey’s passing. Worked with Bob from 73 -76 at NTH Syd. A few trips to Bathurst was always a great week away.
Did a wide load with Bob out in NSW, he went outside from the motel and came back with a rock. “ What’s the rock for Swoopey?” He told me he always took a rock from wherever he went and took it home for his wife. Little things that we do. RIP Bob, thanks for your service and training you gave me.

RIP Bobby. It was a pleasure to have you as my boss at 16 Division. Remember the nights you would come & find Chris Berry & myself with our tea set up on the bonnet whilst performing radar duty on Mona Vale Road. You always found us Swoopey. Gone but not forgotten. Say hello to grumpy. Two of the best bosses you could ever hope to have. Thank you for your service.

Nothing further, than what is recorded above, is known about this man at the time of publication.

RIP Bobby. Worked with him at the Daceyville section in the 70’s. Remember his number plate was DOG ??? And he often came out to find a picture of a dog stuck over his number plate. A great Sergeant to work under.

Back in my early days Constables no class, usually only drove an unmarked car when in company with a senior man.
I went down to 29 Div thinking just that. 2 marked cars and 2 unmarked..1 was radar car, the other a patrol car.
Bob Allgood was the Sgt..I started working 5am to 1p shifts..to catch the speeders in the early mornings.
Going up Pittwater road heading for work…Warriewood straight was the place to nail em if not before..within 2 weeks Allgood promoted me to unmarked car status..his thinking if I could nail that many in a marked car. I would be deadly in an unmarked one.

Police disappointed at close of Operation Tortoise

It would have been difficult to escape a random breath test in Wagga across the Easter long weekend.

It follows a Highway Patrol crack down on fatigue, drink and drug-driving.

With thousands hitting the roads for the holiday, Riverina police conducted more than 6600 random breath tests across four days.

These numbers come at the close of Operation Tortoise, with double-demerits in force until midnight on Monday.

Despite the low number of drivers busted drink driving, acting-Senior Sergeant Stephen Sivewright said the behaviour of drivers across the region had been disappointing.

“The message isn’t getting out there,” Sergeant Sivewright said. “People are still speeding.”

He said road users continued to put the lives of their passengers and other people in danger, with more than 200 drivers issued speeding fines.

A further 25 infringements were issued for not wearing seatbelts and 308 drivers were busted for other traffic offences.

“People shouldn’t have to die for drivers to listen,”  Sergeant Sivewright said. “This should be a wake-up call.”

His words follow the tragic death of an elderly driver on a Riverina road, near Jindera, on Monday morning.

This death brought the number of fatalities on Riverina roads to six this year.

“That’s ridiculously high,” Sergeant Sivewright said. “Up until March 28, there were 59 fatalities on state roads – a definite increase on last year.”

The story Shock follows number of speeding drivers busted on Riverina roads first appeared on The Daily Advertiser.

Ten drivers busted drink driving across Wagga

Police say the results of this year’s initiative to reduce the holiday road toll are concerning.

It follows Wagga Highway Patrol’s launch of Operation Safe Arrival on December 22.

Acting Senior Sergeant Stephen Sivewright on Tuesday said local officers, combined with resources from Sydney, had already performed thousands of random breath tests across Wagga.

The Highway Patrol chief said of more than 8520 tests, ten drivers had been caught drink driving.

In addition, Sergeant Sivewright said 225 drivers had been fined for speeding across the region, which was more than half the combined number of traffic-related offences, during that period.

“We are concerned about the 10 drink driving offences,” Sergeant Sivewright said. “We’d like that to be zero.”

Double demerits will apply from Friday, December 22 with all Traffic and Highway Patrol Command staff on duty until New Year.

Sergeant Sivewright urged Riverina drivers to stick to the speed limit, to make a plan-b and to get to their destination safely.

Highway Patrol want you to survive the drive home this Christmas | Video

Wagga’s Highway Patrol force are gearing up for the busy Christmas period with Operation Safe Arrival kicking off today.

Double demerits will apply from Friday, December 22 with all Traffic and Highway Patrol Command staff on duty until New Year performing random breath tests, mobile drug testing, speed enforcement and vehicle and driver compliance checks.

Acting Senior Sergeant Stephen Sivewright said the Riverina cluster will be boosted by additional resources from Sydney.

“We’ll have all our vehicles out on the roads during the day and night time so the public can see us.”

The Wagga Command is made up of 20 officers and nine vehicles.

“With more people going away, wanting to get there, they can get distracted by their mobile phones, we’ll be out there trying to deter people from committing offences,” Sergeant Sivewright said.

“For those travelling long distances we hope they have had at least eight hours sleep before they begin their journey, and stop every two hours or when tired.

“Personal responsibility is the key to road safety in NSW. We urge those on our roads over the school holidays, Christmas and the New Year to help us keep everyone safe on NSW roads.”

Last Christmas and New Year period saw 40 people die on Australian roads, up from 34 the year before.

NSW was the worst state for fatalities, claiming 12 of the dead.

Top NSW cop Detective Owen ‘Doc’ Halliday to be given full police funeral after losing battle with motor neurone disease

NSW detective Owen ‘Doc’ Halliday mixed it with some of Sydney’s roughest and dirtiest criminals – invariably coming out the winner.

Detective Halliday will be given a full police funeral tomorrow, attended by the state’s top officers after he lost his battle with motor neurone disease earlier this week.

Halliday, 60, was responsible for bringing ‘Mr Rent-a-kill‘, Christopher Dale Flannery, back to Sydney after he went into hiding in Melbourne in the 80s.

”He was one of the most tenacious detectives I have known,’’ said Deputy Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas.

Doc had a sense of fairness you don’t often see and had an incredible disdain for bullies. He was not only a great detective but a wonderful father and a terrific bloke.’’

Halliday was a mentor to many of the state’s now-senior police and worked on some of the most high-profile cases of the 80s.

These included the Family Law Court bombings, the murder of  Justice David Opas and the murders of the Turkish consul and his bodyguard in the eastern suburbs.

He also investigated the gangland murders of underworld figures Mick Sayers and Roy Thurgar .

Halliday, or ‘Doc’ as he was known, joined the force in 1968 as a police cadet and was sworn in as a constable in 1970.

Much of his career was centred in the Balmain area where he became known to locals, both good and bad.

Besides a passion for the police force Halliday was a talented footballer playing first grade rugby league for the Canterbury Bulldogs in the 80s, in the era when they were known as the “Entertainers”.

Halliday retired as a decorated detective sergeant in 2003.

A service will be held at Macquarie Park Crematorium today.

He is survived by his wife Kay and his two sons Shane and Chad, both serving NSW police officers.

NATIONAL POLICE REMEMBRANCE DAY –  2012
Page: 15631

The Hon. MELINDA PAVEY: My question is addressed to the Minister for Police and Emergency Services. Will the Minister inform the House about National Police Remembrance Day?

The Hon. MICHAEL GALLACHER: I thank the honourable member for her question and I again welcome the opportunity to share the details of this significant day for the New South Wales Police Force with the wider community. National Police Remembrance Day was observed on Friday 28 September 2012. It is a day held in memory of police officers across the country who have died in the line of duty. On that day I had the honour of attending a service held at the New South Wales Police Wall of Remembrance in the Domain at which the 251 officers who have given their lives to protect the people of New South Wales since the formation of the New South Wales Police Force 150 years ago were rightly honoured.

It was a solemn reflection of the ultimate sacrifice those officers made and their legacy. The service included special acknowledgement of Senior Constable David Rixon, who was killed on 2 March 2012 whilst on duty in Tamworth. Senior Constable Rixon‘s tragic death was a salient reminder of the dedication police give to the service and protection of our communities. In upholding the law and keeping the people of New South Wales safe, police put their lives on the line on a daily basis. National Police Remembrance Day honours the courage and bravery of all police officers across the country. It is also an important day to remember police officers who have lost their lives as a result of illness and in other circumstances.

National Police Remembrance Day recognises the families of all serving police officers and the families of those who did not make it home at the end of their shift. New South Wales Police Legacy is a not-for-profit organisation that looks after the families of deceased police officers in New South Wales. The organisation does an invaluable job providing financial and emotional support to more than 1,000 widows and widowers and 200 children across New South Wales. Importantly, New South Wales Police Legacy ensures that these families remain part of the wider police family. The police family is a close-knit group of people who support each other and their families.

Also in attendance at the service at the Wall of Remembrance was 12-year-old Elayna Day and her grandmother. Elayna was only six years old when her father, Sergeant Graham Clifford Day, died but she remains a firm member of the police family. She is the proud recipient of the 2012 Commissioner’s Scholarship. The New South Wales Police Legacy scholarship will assist Elayna as she enters high school next year to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She is a prime example of the fine work undertaken by New South Wales Police Legacy in supporting the families of our fallen police officers. The need for an organisation like Police Legacy highlights the risks associated with being a police officer. It is a difficult, stressful and dangerous job. In informing the House on the significance of National Police Remembrance Day, I would like to take this opportunity to thank police officers across the State, all of whom are serving and protecting the people of New South Wales. Their commitment is acknowledged and respected, their bravery and courage is honoured and admired and I thank them for their contribution in ensuring that we have a safe community.
