Passed away peacefully in Manly Waters Hospital.
James was a fit, strong man, a skilled carpenter who was working at the age of 91 years, as he loved woodwork.
He was a proud serving member of the NSW Police Force for 32 years, achieving the rank of senior sergeant and was awarded a medal for distinctive service. During WWII he served in the boat building industry at Cockatoo Island and Berrys Bay shipyards.
Son to Daphne Elizabeth Blanche and James Winchester Wills, we will remember James as loving husband to his late wife Noreen, a devoted father to his children James and Ross, grandfather to Daniel and Naomi, great-grandfather to Lucy and brother to Bruce, Margaret and Barbara.
He gave his time and effort beyond the call of duty, was someone who loved life and always tried his best. His strong sense of purpose in life afforded us many years of happiness for which we are forever grateful.

All members of the NSW Police Force are advised that retired *Sergeant 2nd Class James Thomas Winchester Wills, regd 7515 passed away on Tuesday, 7 February 2017 aged 91 years.
Records indicate that Sergeant 2nd Class Wills was performing duties at Frenchs Forest at the time of his retirement on 23 November 1984, completing 31 years service with NSW Police Force.
A private funeral service was held.
*Despite the official message stating that James was a retired Sergeant 2nd Class, looking at the 1979 NSW Police ‘Stud Book’, there is an asterisk next to his name – which indicates that the person has passed his next qualifying examination – that being Senior Sergeant / Sergeant 1st Class.

Senior Constable Warren Carloff

As a member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Specialist Response and Security and Tactical Response Team (SRSTR) Warren (Waz) Carloff AKA “The Hammer”* is no stranger to a fight – just to get into the elite squad is a fight.
SRSTR specialise in Counter Terrorism, riot/disturbance control and search and rescue. The selection trials are a torturous serious of physical and mental challenges so there is no mistaking that Waz was at the peak of his health; he even competed in a Natural Body Building competition for the INBA.
In May 2010 Waz was about to fight the biggest fight of all – the one for his life.
Unbeknown to Waz he was experiencing the symptoms of Bowel Cancer for almost a year but just put it down to the rigours of training and his career. After seeing a Cancer Council poster on the back of a toilet door at work, Waz realised he was showing the symptoms and booked in for a colonoscopy with his GP, the early detection saved his life.
In Waz’s words “I was living the dream, as a young healthy fit man who had a great job and a fantastic family life.”
After 5 years of re-building his strength and fitness and re-establishing his career in September 2015 Waz was dealt the blow that the fight was not over.
After experiencing dizziness and blurry vision a quick trip to the Dr’s saw him in hospital hours later talking over with surgeons the removal of 2 large tumors in his brain.
Waz has stage 4 Terminal Metastasised Bowel Cancer to the Brain, Adrenal Gland and Lung, this fight is going to be tougher than the last…in the past 6 months he has had 4 brain surgeries, Brain and is currently undergoing whole head radiation as once the tumors in his brain have cleared, then the Doctors can start on the ones in his Glands and Lung.
Waz has been fighting Cancer since 2010 (as a 31yr old), he is happily married with 3 kids, has put himself in harms way in his career and since being diagnosed with Cancer has done work with the Cancer Council to help raise awareness of Bowel Cancer and Early Detection.
As a school friend watching on the sidelines via Facebook, I have been following Waz’s journey with complete awe and respect, his treatment photo’s he (almost) always smiling and giving his trademark ‘thumbs up’, his attitude of strength and determination to fight this disease is both inspiring and humbling.
Due to the power of Facebook most of our School Year – YTHS Class of ’96 has managed to keep in touch and this being 20 years since we graduated, I felt it would be a great way to bring us all together – to help one of our own.
Waz has taken care of the practical things to ensure the future of his wife and his kids, but this hasn’t left much over for the fun things and for creating some amazing memories for his children.
This is where I would like to reach out and ask for you all for help. The ultimate memory for any family with 3 young kids is of course Disneyland so this is where we will start.
With Waz’s treatments there is of course a level of uncertainty as to whether a trip to Disneyland will be possible and when, so there is another thing on Waz’s bucket-list.
If Waz and his family had the use of a camper van they could go on a series of mini-adventures in-between treatments and start making some memories sooner.

David was a Clerk for 3.5 years and also enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 10 April 1947 and was discharged ” Demobilised ” on the 9 April 1949 with the rank of Able Seaman and had a “very good’ Character on discharge.
He joined the NSW Police Force as a single man in 1949 but married on 12 November 1949.
Upon joining the NSWPF, he was described as: 5′ 10.5″, 11 stone 12 lb, Brown eyes, Fair hair, Fair complexion
He obtained his Bronze Medallion in Life Saving.
He was qualified as a Solo Cyclist on 31 August 1949 and then qualified on an ‘Outfit’ ( cycle / sidecar ) on 5 January 1953.
He Failed the Constable 1st Class exam on 26 August 1952 but Passed on 25 August 1953.
On the 12 October 1954 he Passed his qualifying exam to be designated ‘ Detective ‘.
Interestingly, he qualified to drive General duty utilities & light trucks on 29 January 1964.
He Passed his Sergeant 3/c exam on 10 February 1960 and Passed his Sergeant 1/c exam on 14 May 1969 and was appointed Sgt 1/c on 1 March 1976.
He Passed his Inspector 3/c exam on 11 May 1976.
In 1972 he qualified for the award of Diploma in Criminology.
He completed the Senior Police Course, # 2 of 1978
He completed the Inspectors’ Course, # 4 conducted from 13 – 24 July 1981

On the 19 September 1950 he was Commended for the good policemanship and keen powers of observation exhibited by him in bringing about the arrest of John HOGARTH at the Central Railway Station on 10 March 1950. With only a meagre description of the offender, which had been read to him when going on duty, the Probationary Constable was able to recognise and bring about the arrest of the offender, who had been responsible for many ” cat burglaries “. Seniority date advanced to 1 May 1960, as recommended by the Committee of Appraisement. J.F.S. Commissioner of Police 19 September 1950.
Commended for his powers of observation and keen interest in the discharge of his duties which enabled him to effect the arrest of Kenneth Stewart at Glebe on a charge of breaking, entering and stealing, having recognised a description of a wanted person as that of a youth whom he had questioned a week before at Central Railway Station when he saw him loitering about.
On the 9 April 1964: Commended for part played in search for Monica SCHOFIELD, missing from Heathcote Hostel from 17th June, 1963, and in relation of inquiries which resulted in the arrest of her attacker, Barry RODRICK, and his subsequent conviction for murder. N.T.W. ALLAN Commissioner of Police. 9 April 1964.
On 7 June 1971: Commended for courage, leadership and devotion to duty at Berala on the 27th February, 1971 in confronting a mentally disturbed person who was armed with a loaded. 22 calibre repeating rifle and two dagger type knives and fired two shots in the direction of the Detective Sergeant prior to taking his own life. On 6 February 1980: Commended for good Policemanship and devotion to duty at Georges Hall on the 1 December 1978 when, while off duty and assisted by his son, now Probationary Constable G. D. James, he pursued a male suspect seen leaving a neighbour’s house.
During the chase, which covered a distance of about 1.5kms, the Sergeant stopped a passing motorist and then managed to overtake the young offender whom he tackled and, following a violent struggle, overpowered and arrested him with the help of his son. James T. LEES, Commissioner 6 February 1980

As previously advised, Detective Leading Senior Constable Susanne Jones passed away on 6 February 2017.
Susanne Jones (nee GOTTSCHALK) joined the AFP in January 1983 and was initially attached to a joint AFP/VICPOL task force, she then moved to work in Legal-Projects and Planning Section, Drug Operations and at Melbourne Airport gaining a wide range of experience that enabled her to achieve the designation of Detective in 1988.
During her extensive career that continued at the Melbourne Office, her duties covered the full range of investigation operations including Criminal Assets Confiscation and Professional Standards. Her most recent posting was with the Joint Organised Crime Task Force.
During her 34 years of service Detective Leading Senior Constable Jones was awarded the National Police Service Medal, National Medal with clasp, AFP Service Medal with 30-year clasp and an Australia Day Achievement Medallion.

Australian Federal Police officer dies after shooting at Melbourne headquarters

AN AUSTRALIAN Federal Police officer has died after suffering a gunshot wound at the crime-fighting body’s Melbourne headquarters.
The female officer was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound at the ( 383 )Latrobe St building at 5.45pm.
She died a short time later.
AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin said the circumstances around the tragic incident are being investigated by Victoria Police who will prepare a report for the coroner.
“Our colleague’s death is not believed to be suspicious,” he said.
“My thoughts are with her loved ones and the broader AFP family who are dealing with the loss of one of our own today.
“We are offering support to her family and the wider AFP workforce.”
The AFP confirmed this morning that the death was ‘not accidental’.
A Victoria Police statement last night read: “Police are not looking for anyone else connected to the shooting. Police are investigating the incident.”

Aged 36, of Canberra, Janelle passed away on Saturday 11 February 2017,
at the Canberra Hospital, after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer.
Janelle was the beloved wife of Richard and mother of Fiorello Arvisais.
Janelle was born in Canberra on 29 July 1980. She was the much loved daughter of Terance Shelback and Donna (Messina) Shelback. Janelle was an Australian Federal Police member. Besides her husband, son and parents she also leaves behind her brother Luke, sister Stephanie, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Janelle was an incredible person who loved spending time with friends and family as well as shopping for shoes, handbags and new Christmas decorations. She also loved to travel with her husband and son. She loved cooking and to crochet. Janelle made many blankets that she enjoyed giving away.
The funeral service for Janelle will be held in Holy Family Catholic Church, Cnr Bugden Avenue and Castleton Crescent, Gowrie,
on FRIDAY, 17 February 2017, commencing at 1:00 pm.
Cremation will follow at the Norwood Park Crematorium, 65 Sandford Street, Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Council ACT on 02 6257 9999 during business hours.

The funeral service for the late Barry Allen Boyce will be held at the Anglican Parish Church of St Paul,
Cnr Canberra Ave and Captain Cook Crescent, Griffith

commencing at 1pm.
At the conclusion of the service, a burial will be held at the Woden Cemetery.

Barry was a gentleman I met him originally at a Canberra swap meeting, if he had parts for 27 Buick they landed on my trailer, if I had 29 Buick parts they went on Barry’s trailer no money exchanged always looked out for each other with parts. He will be missed in the car movement Doug and Ruth Foster

Barry Boyce served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus in the mid-sixties with the late Barry O’Brien formerly of Corrimal and spoke at his funeral some years ago.
They were great mates. I used to see hm at reunions in Canberra. Nice man.

FURTHER INFORMATION IS NEEDED ABOUT THIS PERSON, THEIR LIFE, THEIR CAREER AND THEIR DEATH.
Keith passed away peacefully at home in the care of his loving wife Michelle and family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a highly respected ex-member of the NSW Police Force, an accomplished fullback with the Manly Warringah District Rugby League Club during the 1970s, where he acquired the distinction of being the 196th First Grade player for the Club and he will be dearly missed by all of his community friends in and out of the sporting arena.
Keith will be sadly missed by Michelle, his sons and daughters Tim, Lara, Kate and their partners Kerri, Luke and Ben, his parents Winifred and Ronald (dec) plus members of his extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 8 February, 2017 at 11:30AM at St. Marys Church, Whistler Street, Manly and all are invited to attend the service. No flowers by request, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Research.
May he rest in peace.

SP betting raids
SYDNEY: Gaming Squad detectives believe they smashed an SP betting ring after raids in Sydney at the weekend.
Chief Inspector Peter Ibbotson said detectives and Telecom inspectors raided seven premises in the inner city and on the North Shore simultaneously on Saturday. Telecom had been involved as most of the ring’s activities were carried out by telephone.
Peter used to work for the Rural Bank and was actually living in a bank flat above the Rural Bank on Campbell Pde, Bondi, when he joined the NSWPF in his late 20’s.
Nothing further, at this time, is known about this former NSW Policeman.
